Dress Code
11/09/08
Appropriate attire is REQUIRED
You are asked to please wear something appropriate for a goth/industrial/fetish atmosphere. When in doubt, all black is fine. Have some fun and dress up a little!
This is an event for those of us who like our aesthetics a bit on the darker side. We generally do not fit in to the molds of society. We’re different. Resurrection is a place for us to gather and feel comfortable looking the way we want to look. WITHOUT people staring at us. Without people gawking.
This is NOT a spectator sport.
Along those lines, we request that you help us create the right atmosphere by dressing the part!
This can include various fashions along the lines of goth, industrial, cyber, and the darker aesthetics of fetish wear.
Those who know…. know. If you are not too sure, take your inspiration from the likes of Tim Burton, Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, and White Wolf Games.
Still not sure? A black button down shirt, black pants, and black shoes or boots would do you well. Blue jeans, kahki’s, white sneakers, white t-shirts, and baseball caps are right out. When in doubt, please wear all black.
Our door staff might make exceptions to the dress code for certain (usually important in some way) people. Just because they made an exception for someone else doesn’t mean they will make one for you.
Deal with it.
Arguing with the door staff about dress code is futile.
Please plan ahead and wear something appropriate.
Do I HAVE to wear all black?
No. If you’re appropriately dressed for a goth/industrial event, it does not have to be all black. When in doubt, please wear all black.
Why all black?
Think of it kind of like Kabuki theater. You either play a part or you fade into the background. We’re trying to create a specific atmosphere here. Please help us in that endeavor, or at least please try not to detract from it. If you don’t know the scene, the look, or are not comfortable being creative in a way that works with the atmosphere we’re creating, dressing in all black helps you blend into the background and doesn’t detract from the feel we’re going for. We only do this night twice a month. We don’t think it’s that much to ask.
